More than a piece of transport infrastructure, the project reimagines the river crossing as a civic destination that brings together movement, landscape, culture and public art.

Building on the original design vision, Fennec Studio's team contributed to the refinement and delivery of the landscape and public realm outcomes, helping shape a seamless experience between the bridge, surrounding parklands and the HOTA precinct. The design strengthens connections between key destinations while encouraging people to slow down, gather and engage with the river environment.

A defining element of the project is 40 Million Mornings, a major integrated public artwork by Warren Langley and Jess Austin. Developed through a competitive artist procurement process led by Fennec Studio Director Dominic Powell, the artwork forms the southern bridge landing and celebrates the enduring relationship between sunlight, water and the Nerang River. Its sculptural form and shimmering surface create a memorable arrival experience by day and an ever-changing presence after dark.

The completed project demonstrates how infrastructure, landscape and public art can work together to create places that are both functional and meaningful. More than a bridge, it has become a recognisable part of the Gold Coast's cultural landscape and a destination that reflects the city's creative, connected and distinctly subtropical identity.
